IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE

Because Magret's parents were so poor, Magret didn't learn how to read and write when she was young. This troubled her. She would stay up at night, thinking: Will I ever be able to write my name? Will I ever be able to read?

VAN GOGH TO PICASSO - GUGGENHEIM BILBAO

Drawn from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation's Thannhauser Collection, Van Gogh to Picasso: The Thannhauser Legacy features works by impressionist, Post-Impressionist, and early modern masters, including  Paul Cézanne, Edgar, Édouard Manet, Pablo Picasso, and Vincent van Gogh. IMPRESSIONISM

It's an art movement, impressionism originated in 19th-century France as a reaction against the rigid rules of "academic painting" of that time.

Impressionist art is known for its distinctive brush strokes, lighting, colours, and everyday subjects.

POST-IMPRESSIONISM

It's an art movement that developed in the 1890s. It is characterized by a subjective approach to paintings, as artists opted to evoke emotion rather than realism in their work.

Post-Impressionists believed that a work should place emphasis on symbolism, communicating messages from the artist's own subconscious. They perceived it as a way to convey feelings.

Like the Impressionists, the Post-Impressionist shared their work with the public through independent exhibitions across Paris.

MARC CHAGALL - TIBOLI ESKOLA

Enjoy these great drawings that our pupils have created as if they were Marc Chagall.

The end of the current school-year has just reached. A long, happy and peaceful year with its ups and downs. We are also glad to start our long summer holidays. Enjoy the summer as you please. Go to the mountain, the beach or anywhere you prefer, but please find and scatter happiness everywhere you go to.

MARC  CHAGALL QUOTES
  • If all life moves inevitably towards its end, then we must, during our own, colour it with our colours of love and hope.
  • Colour is all. When colour is right, form is right. Colour everything, colour is vibration like music; everything is vibration.
  • If I create from the heart, nearly everything works; if from the head, almost nothing.
  • Only love interests me, and I am only in contact with things that revolve around love.

EASTER HOLIDAYS! HAPPY EASTER!

Easter and spring rites remind us how life triumphs over death. Whether in the Christian symbolism of the resurrection or folk traditions of hares and eggs, renewal of life is the common factor. The world is coming alive again after a long and cold winter. This is represented in our symbols of Easter: eggs, baby chicks, fertile rabbits, and plenty of blooms. The magic of spring/Easter means new life, new flowers, and no more snow.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY (8 MARCH)

It's a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

"The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organisation but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights" (Gloria Steinem).

International Women's Day  (IWD) has been occurring for well over a century.

What colours signify International Women's Day? Purple with green represents traditional feminism and purple with yellow represents progressive contemporary feminism.

Think globally and act locally!
Make everyday International Women's Day.
Do your bit to ensure that the future for girls is bright, equal, safe and rewarding.

SEE YOU SOON DAVID HOCKNEY

"I live the same way as I have for years; I'm just a worker. Artists are. Michelangelo, Picasso - they worked all the time. In the last four years of his life, Van Gogh's time is almost all accounted for. He did all those drawings, wrote all those letters. What other time was left over? Just enough for sleeping, that's all. But you never hear about artists staying in bed, because they don't."

From the book

"LOVING VINCENT" PAINTED FILM - HOW IT WAS MADE

The animation-style, stop-motion film is made entirely from real oil paintings. The result looks as if Van Gogh's vivid figures have come to life. The story considers what might have happened if Van Gogh did not kill himself, but was in fact murdered.

To capture changing backgrounds, facial expressions, and movement, each canvas was re-painted an average of 76 times. between them, the artists executed a total of 65.000 frames in oil paint.
