ELEGY FOR THE ARCTIC (LUDOVICO EINAUDI)

The fight to save the Arctic is heating up. The region is more impacted by global warming than any other place in the world. And as if the impacts of climate change weren't enough, international oil companies have invested in exploiting the oil that lies deep in Arctic waters.

NATIONAL BERTSOLARIS CHAMPIONSHIP 2017

It is held once every four years and is extremely popular. Bertso (improvised verse) is the basis of bertsolaritza and it hides the secret of the championship. Day after day, bertso spreads from village to village, town square to town square, school to school, reaching every spot in the Basque Country. Bertsolaritza is a broad and dynamic movement, and the work involves many people. This non-stop activity is reflected in the National Bertsolaris Championship. And the last winner is Maialen Lujanbio (for the second time)

DAVID HOCKNEY - PORTRAITS - GUGGENHEIM BILBAO

David Hockney returns to Guggenheim Bilbao with a remarkable new body of work. Embracing portraiture with a renewed creative vigour. he offers an intimate snapshot of the LA art world and the people who have crossed his path over the last two or three years.

After his monumental landscape exhibition, Hockney turned away from painting his Yorkshire home, returning to Los Angeles. Over the months that followed, he became absorved by the genre and invited sitters from all areas of his life into his studio.

His subjects include office staff, fellow artists, curators and gallerists. Each work is the same size, showing his sitters in the same chair, against the same vivid blue background and all were painted in the same time frame of three days.

David was born in Bradford, England, in 1937. He attended art school in London before moving to Los Angeles in the 1960s. He loved books and was interested in art from an early age, admiring Picasso, Matisse and Fragonard.

THE SWORD IN THE STONE

A good play made us laugh at Tiboli Eskola last friday. The two members of Face to Face were great! The pupils enjoyed a lot. They even took part in the play as an active audience. Some pupils were on stage, too. The Queen (Jare) and King Arthur (Ibai) were the starring actors. Lots of clapping and laughter for more than an hour. Thanks all.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Halloween is a celebration on the night of October 31st. It is most practised in the United States and Canada. Children wear costumes and go to people's homes saying "trick or treat!" to ask for candy (sweets in the UK) and people give it to them. The suggestion is: "give me a treat or I'll play a trick on you". People often dress up as ghost, witches, or other scary things for Halloween.

For Christians it is the eve of All Hallows' Day. All Hallows' Eve is a Christianized  feast influenced by Celtic harvest festivals and pagan roots.

It's the end of the school year. It's the end of a period of your life. Take all the good memories with you and forget the bad and hard times you've lived. It's been a pleasure to teach you. I've learnt a lot from you, too. You're the oldest pupils here, but remember you'll be the youngest again in your high school next year. Enjoy the way, don't waste your time, work hard and learn a lot.
